Winter Club Officer Training

Lead the Way... District 42 Club Leadership Training

Twice a year, the District provides leadership training for club officers.  Join us for Round 2 Club Officer Training between Dec 1, 2017 and February 28, 2018.  You will have an opportunity to meet, interact with and learn from leaders from around the District.

Attending a Club Officer Training session is a requirement for your Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB).  A minimum of 4 club officers must attend training in both Round 1 (Jun 1-Aug 31) and Round 2 (Dec 1-Feb 28) to achieve the Distinguished Club Program (DCP) Goal #9.  Distinguished Clubs attend training – they see the value and the benefits and learn what it takes to run a successful club, where members are growing and achieving their goals.

Don’t just meet the minimum, strive for excellence!  Clubs that achieve all 7 club officers trained in one round will be recognized with a club banner ribbon (club must have achieved at least 4 officers trained in previous Round)

Training is open to all members, it is a great opportunity for future club leaders to see what club leadership is all about!

Quote from 2017/2018 Program Quality Director, Catherine Secundiak DTM

What can you expect at leadership training?

I have attended training earlier in the year, what can I learn from attending training for a second time?

Likely the first time you attended the training you probably didn’t know what your year was going to look like. Now that you have had a chance to work your club success plan and tried some different leadership techniques you will be able to meet with other club officers to see what they are doing and learn from each other’s successes.

What can we see different at this club officer training?

Members from across our district have been developing their facilitation and training skills to provide you education sessions that are engaging for adult learning.  You won’t see presenters reading slides, you will see facilitators encouraging participants to share their experiences so we all can learn from each other. You will see some of the best facilitators from around the district, learn different facilitation techniques, so you can help teach and develop members in your club.

I’ve never attended a training session before, what can I expect?

You will learn more about how to be an effective leader, how to conduct your officer role to the best of your ability and you will meet other club leaders from around the District to help you work through challenges you are facing.

Will we hear more about the new Pathways Educational Program?

Yes, we will get a glimpse of the new Pathways Educational Program and you’ll have a chance to ask questions. You will meet the people who will be guiding and supporting you when the program becomes available in District 42 (expected Spring 2018).

What should I bring with me?

  • Pen and paper (to take lots of notes)
  • Club Leadership Handbook
  • Club Success Plan
  • Questions and challenges to discuss with other leaders
  • Business cards (to network)
  • An open-mind and a positive attitude
