Every year, District 42 looks for leaders to step up and lead our District. Have you thought about taking your skills to the next level? Are you ready?  It’s your time! Time to stretch yourself and consider serving as a District Leader on the 2020-2021 District Executive Committee.  Nominations are now open!  The District leadership term begins July 1, 2020 and ends June 30, 2021.  For all nominations and nomination questions, please e-mail DLC@d42tm.org.

STEP 1: Decide How to Serve

Review the document District Leader Qualifications and Responsibilities (PDF) from Toastmasters International to decide how you wish to serve your fellow Toastmasters. It gives you an overview of each district officer role. The document District Leader Competencies (PDF) describes the expected skills, knowledge, and characteristics of district officers.  Take a look at your personal and professional development goals and see which role serves YOU best.
Not quite ready yet?  Contact your Club President, Area Director or Division Director and let them know you are interested!  There are club roles, Pathways projects, area, division and district projects that you can assist with to help you get ready!  Clickhere for a few opportunities to get you started!

STEP 2: Get Nominated

After you select an office, it’s time to get nominated. You can nominate any active Toastmaster in good standing in our district – including yourself. Yes, you may definitely nominate yourself and the process is simple. Just fill out the following 3 forms and submit to the District Leadership Committee (DLC@d42tm.org) before the deadline for the coming year.

Elected Positions

The District Leadership Committee (DLC) is seeking Nominations for the District term July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 for the following elected positions:

  • Program Quality Director
  • Club Growth Director
  • Division Directors (6 positions available in various locations near you across Southern AB and Southern SK)
Deadline for candidates to declare intent to run (nomination forms) is February 29, 2020.

STEP 3: Complete an Interview with the DLC

Once you submit a nomination form, you will be contacted by members of the District Leadership Committee (DLC) to complete a qualifying interview.  The interviews of Candidates for Elected Positions will begin in March.

STEP 4: Start Campaigning for Office

We want to ensure a fair election.  Please review the Campaign Guidelines from Toastmasters International.
Election of Officers will take place at the District Council meeting at the Spring Convention May 2nd, 2020, in Lethbridge, AB.

Appointed Positions

The following positions are appointed by the District Director and open for nomination for the District term July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021:
  • Administration Manager
  • Finance Manager

  • Area Directors (approximately 28 positions available in various locations near you across Southern AB and Southern SK)
Deadline for nomination forms is March 31, 2020.

STEP 3: Complete an Interview with the DLC

STEP 4: Commit to Your Appointment

These Officers will be appointed by the District Director in May, 2020.  You will be required to sign a “District Officer Agreement” form and a “District Leader Commitment” form before the appointment will be submitted to Toastmasters International for your education credit.  Not completing all the requirements for the position for the full term may result in termination of the agreement and you will not receive education credit towards your District Leader service.

WHAT IF I MISSED THE DEADLINE?

If you have missed one of the deadlines, still submit your nomination forms! For Elected Positions, you would be considered a “Floor Candidate” and you are still required to complete an interview with the District Leadership Committee.  For Appointed Positions, we may still have vacancies, so please submit your nomination forms and we will do our best to find the best position for you from the positions still available or you’ll be first in line for 2021-2022!

SAVE THE DATE:
