“Waves of Inspiration” Event
District 42 support was out in force on Saturday 29th of July for the Molly Hamilton “Waves of Inspiration” event held in Calgary, Alberta. Molly is representing Region 4 in mid-August in Nassau, Bahamas, as a semi-finalist in the Toastmasters International World Champion of Public Speaking contest. She is pictured here with District 42 Director (2023-2024), Eugene Sicat, DTM and District 42 Program Quality Director (2023-2024), Daisy Wei, DTM, who were able to present Molly with the D42 trophy. Molly’s road to the finals: MVP Advanced Toastmasters Club 976708 Winner, Area 27 Winner, Division A Winner and District 42 Winner. And now the Region 4 Winner.
Thank you to Joanne Smith, DTM, for leading and planning an outstanding event. While the event was in person, members from across D42 attended and listened online. There were speeches from Toastmasters who have also been on the world stage (Russ Dantu, DTM; Rowena Romero, DTM; and Kanak Khare, DTM.) Harvey Taphorn, DTM was our Master of Ceremonies. Molly presented her two International speeches and received evaluations and feedback on both. Thank you also to the numerous other D42 Toastmasters who were behind the scenes as volunteers.
Harvey Taphorn, DTM, moderated the panel discussion with, in photo: Kanak, Molly, Russ and Rowena. Questions ranged from how to write a winning speech to how to get over personal nerves to how to handle intimidation from other contestants. Our appreciation to many Toastmasters and their personal companies for their abundant door prize donations. District 42 is certainly one of the best districts in Toastmasters. D42 wishes Molly Hamilton every success in August on the World Stage!
