Exciting Opportunity for Future Leaders:

Youth Leadership Project with the Navy League of Canada

Hello, Toasties!

Did you know that when I’m not busy “toasting” up a storm at Toastmasters and perfecting speeches, I’m volunteering as the Board President for the Navy League of Canada, Calgary Branch? In light of this, I’m thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between Fluor Communicators, District 42, and the Navy League of Canada.

Starting January 2025, we’ll be launching a ground-breaking Youth Leadership Project (YLP) at the Captain Jackson Cadet Corps, serving kids aged 9 to 12. This initiative is more than just a program, it’s an opportunity to inspire the next generation of leaders and could mark the beginning of a lasting collaboration between District 42 Toastmasters and the Navy League of Canada.

The project will take place in person at the HMCS Tecumseh Military Base in Calgary, offering a platform for our distinguished Toastmasters to make a lasting impact. As part of this venture, I am collaborating with Marcy Field, DTM and Christina Kruis DTM, alongside an elite group of A-List Toastmasters, to provide mentorship, leadership training, and public speaking skills to these young cadets. This is an exceptional opportunity for us to give back, sharpen our own leadership abilities, and create a meaningful legacy for the future of District 42 and Toastmasters International.

The motto of Toastmasters International, “Where Leaders Are Made,” aligns seamlessly with the vision of its founder, Dr. Ralph Smedley, who stated, “Leadership is the ability to manage change and inspire others to reach for the stars.” This powerful message perfectly encapsulates the mission of our Youth Leadership Project. Together, we guide young individuals toward discovering their leadership potential. Through our shared dedication, we’re not only empowering them to find their voices but also shaping them into confident, capable leaders who will make meaningful contributions to their communities.

I invite anyone interested in participating to come aboard the ship with the Navy League. Whether you’re an experienced Toastmaster or new to youth leadership programs, your involvement will help make this project a resounding success.

Join us in shaping the future of leadership. Together, we can create a lasting impact and inspire the next generation of change-makers.
