Grateful for the Journey

Reflecting on a Year of Highs

So hard to believe the year is almost over—wow! It has been an incredible experience. Working with my committee chairs and their committees, I have encountered the highs and lows of leadership, and I feel secure in saying there were far more highs!

Club Growth Milestones

The Club Extension Committee, led by co-chairs Brad Korbo, DTM, and Brian Fegan, DTM, have successfully chartered two new clubs, UCalgary and Marks. We still anticipate chartering two more clubs before June 30. Thank you to Brad, Brian, and the sponsors and mentors for their dedication.

Strength in Retention and Coaching

The Club Retention Committee was led by Anne James, and the Club Coach Program was managed by Cathy Morrell, Anne James, and Rochelle Pasquet. They have been working tirelessly to recruit and assign club coaches.
Note: More coaches are still needed! Please consider joining their team—coaching offers new experiences, transferable skills, and is a requirement for your Distinguished Toastmasters Designation (DTM). If you are willing to help a club achieve success through teamwork, please contact me or your Area/Division Director.

District Standing and Support

Currently, the District has 97 out of 106 clubs in good standing. We continue working with clubs, as well as Area and Division Directors, to bring all clubs back into good standing by June.

Teamwork Across Time Zones

I took six weeks off from Toastmasters in the spring while travelling in Japan. Thank you to Daisy and Debbie for stepping in and ensuring all clubs remained in good standing during renewal time. They worked directly with clubs, as well as Area and Division Directors, to get all dues paid on time. Their ongoing support has been invaluable, especially as I navigate new church duties and prepare to start a new job on June 1. We started as a team, and we will certainly finish as one.

A New Chapter Begins

This brings me to my formal announcement. There was some mystery around my nomination for Program Quality Director—why my name appeared and then disappeared faster than the 5–7 minutes on a timer clock.
Due to various layers of confidentiality at work, I couldn’t fully verify all the rumors surrounding my leadership departure, which ranged from taking a new job to moving to Japan. While I would love to move to Japan tomorrow, the new job rumor was more aligned with the truth.
I have accepted a Director of Personnel position with Saskatchewan Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety, effective June 1. This role demands my full attention, as such I would not be able to dedicate myself to the PQD role as much as it requires.

Looking Ahead for District 42

With incoming District Director, Program Quality Director and Club Growth Director—Debbie Stearns, DTM, Stacey Kaminski, and Stanley Vong—leading the way, I am confident that District 42 will thrive in its final year before realignment. I wish them all success and will continue to support them and District 42 as much as I can.

With Deep Thanks and Warm Wishes

To everyone who supported the Club Growth success this year, thank you. It has been an honor to serve you.
Happy summer!

Lynnette Zotzman, DTM
D42 Club Growth Director
