A Night to Remember

Celebrating Christina’s 30-Year Toastmasters Journey

On the evening of May 28th, laughter echoed, stories flowed, and glasses clinked in celebration of a milestone that few reach—Christina Kruis’s 30-year journey with Toastmasters.

Sixty guests gathered at The Park Restaurant, not just for a delicious meal, but to pay tribute to a woman who has inspired, mentored, and led hundreds of fellow Toastmasters with grace, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.

The celebration was masterfully organized by Marcy Field, whose creativity and heart were infused into every moment of the night. From photo boards to a moving video montage, it was clear this was more than just an anniversary—it was a love letter from the Toastmasters community to Christina.

The evening’s emcee, Russ Dantu, set the tone with charm and warmth, (and applause signs) guiding us through an evening of humor, storytelling, reflection, and gratitude.

Three clubs came together to honor Christina’s legacy, each represented by a speaker who has shared part of their journey:

  • Shelley Musfelt from MVP Advanced Toastmasters spoke with heart and humor.
  • Marcy Field, representing Fluor Communicators, highlighted Christina’s leadership and legacy.
  • Daniel Deck from Heart of the Rockies delivered reflections that brought both smiles and tears.

Wendie Swirski offered a touching blessing, setting a tone of reverence for the impact Christina has made. And when Geeth N raised a toast, it felt like the whole room lifted their glasses not just in celebration, but in thanks.

District Director, Daisy Wei DTM, presented Christina with a beautiful plaque from District 42 – TM International commemorating her 30th years.

A special highlight of the evening was both the special photos capturing Christina legacy and a video presentation filled with over 35 heartfelt messages gathered primarily by Shelley Musfelt and beautifully edited by Marcy Field. These clips—funny, tender, and sincere—were a moving tribute to Christina’s mentorship, friendship, and joy-spreading presence.

Beyond the speeches and formalities, what made the evening truly magical was the connection in the room. Laughter and hugs flowed as old friends reunited, and new friendships were born. The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed and joyful, and the stories shared reflected the deep influence Christina has had across clubs and communities.

Christina Kruis is more than a long-time member; she is a pillar, a mentor, a champion of others. Her 30 years with Toastmasters reflect a commitment not just to personal growth, but to helping others find their voice, face their fears, and step boldly into their own potential.

This celebration wasn’t just about the past—it was a reminder of how one person’s consistent encouragement can ripple across decades and touch countless lives.

Congratulations, Christina. You’ve made your mark—and we’re better because of it.
