Doses of Connection

Finding Connection Beyond the Screen

As someone who happily works from home, I found that something was missing: the simple connections and built-over-time friendships that used to happen naturally in my office setting. I craved social connection and also terribly missed all the events (professional, volunteer, and social) that I used to attend pre-pandemic, as they often recharged my spirit. Toastmasters fills the gap and then some.

More Than Meetings: A Community That Grows With You

I joined Calgary Pace Setters less than two years ago, and I am amazed at how much I’ve learned and grown. But more importantly, I am blown away by the connections I’ve made. Sure, networking happens naturally at meetings, but regular interactions quickly become something deeper than networking. They turn into genuine friendships. Seeing familiar faces, celebrating each other’s progress, and appreciating the unique perspectives everyone brings make Pace Setters meetings the highlight of my week. The support and camaraderie I experience are the highlights of my year!

Looking Ahead to New Connections

I’m especially excited to attend the upcoming District 42 Conference. Conferences like this are a wonderful opportunity to step outside of our club bubbles and meet fellow Toastmasters from across the district. As a first-time attendee, I can’t wait to experience the energy, soak in fresh ideas, bring back insights to share with my Pace Setters family, and plant new seeds of friendship.
