Fluor Canada Ltd. (Fluor Canada) was awarded Toastmasters Corporate Recognition Award at Fluor’s Calgary offices on Friday, April 28. Claire Wyllie, Controller, accepted the award on behalf of Fluor Canada and the local Toastmasters chapter, Fluor Communicators.
Richard Peck, DTM presented this prestigious award, while visiting District 42’s 2023 Conference. Also, Toastmasters from across southern Alberta and southern Saskatchewan who gathered in Calgary for the “Maximize Your Potential” hybrid conference.

Fluor Communicators has been an integral part of the Fluor culture for decades; it provides a mechanism to build the pipeline of future leaders through improving employees’ communication and public speaking skills,” Wylllie said. “Fluor Communicators consists of employees spanning all disciplines. Also several past and current members are part of the Canadian Management Team. Toastmasters is not just for new graduates; it can be beneficial to all employees whether they are just starting their careers or have been with Fluor for numerous years. Winning this prestigious award is incredibly exciting for Fluor Canada and I hope that it encourages more employees to experience the benefits of joining Toastmasters.”

To clarify, the Corporate Recognition Award is designated for Toastmasters most distinguished corporate sponsors who invest in the future of their employees, organizations, and communities. It should be noted, this happens only once a year when Toastmasters Board of Directors and District Leaders honour and recognize distinguished corporations who sponsor a club at their workplace. Obviously, they utilize the Toastmasters program to improve employees’ leadership, communication, and public speaking skills. At this time, Fluor Canada has sponsored Fluor Communicators for the past 44 years. Additionally, globally Fluor Corporation supports numerous other clubs.

Club Recognizes Benefits of Corporate Support
This was a triple celebration for members of Fluor Communicators. In addition, to seeing their sponsor receive the Corporate Recognition Award, members celebrated achieving President’s Distinguished Club status for the 9th consecutive year and marked their 44th Anniversary.
