Grant’s 50 and Fabulous Years as a Toastmaster

The Chinook and Twin Rivers Toastmasters Clubs recently hosted an evening celebrating an extraordinary milestone—Grant Hanna’s 50th Toastmasters Anniversary. Grant, a pillar of both clubs, has spent five decades inspiring members with his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to personal growth and communication excellence.

To honour this remarkable achievement, club members organized a celebration fitting for a Golden Anniversary. The event brought together not only current club members but many former members and Toastmasters from Districts 42 and 99 to create a beautiful atmosphere of community and connection. Grant’s two daughters, Elaine and Carol, joined the celebration, adding a special family touch to the evening.

Special Guests and District Recognition

The clubs were privileged to welcome eight Past District 42 Directors and District 42 Director Daisy Wei, DTM, who presented Grant with a special plaque from District 42. Daisy also read parts of a letter to Grant written by Radhi Spear DTM, the President of Toastmasters International.  Jacquie Schnider, DTM, was on the Toastmasters International Board of Directors from 2010-2012, she presented a Toast to Grant. Distinguished Toastmaster Lark Doley – International President of Toastmasters 2018-2019, presented Grant with a plaque from TM International.  Grant was recognized by everyone for his incredible contribution to the Toastmasters community.

A Tribute in Video and Words

David Wing opened the meeting with an engaging overview of Grant’s time with Chinook, followed by a video tribute prepared by Christina Kruis, featuring heartfelt messages from Toastmasters members that Grant had influenced over the years. The video served as a powerful reminder of the countless lives Grant has impacted during the last 50 years.

A Team Effort Full of Heart

The celebration was a team effort led by Dana Cusi (Chinook).  The Toastmaster of the evening was Ken Humphreys (Twin Rivers). The room was appropriately decorated by a team led by Sunday Lin (Chinook).  The online assistance for MS Teams, room access and room set-up/take-down came from Twin Rivers.  A special cake was wheeled in while everyone sang “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” adding a sweet and personal touch to end on.
