A Strong Start
The Youth Leadership Program is up and running in District 42; the momentum is strong!
Highlights from Last Year
Last year saw a successful facilitator training program, 2 in-person programs, 1 hybrid program, and 2 online programs! Some programs were run by experienced facilitators who had done the program before, and others were run by facilitators doing this for the first time.
I have training videos, files of program planning, and agendas to share. We can meet over Zoom, and I am happy to share what I can. There is a lot of support for you!
Building Continuity
We are starting to have programs running again, in organizations that had a previous positive experience voicing interest in repeat programs. Continuity! One was the hybrid program that Ann Nakaska led with the International Samaritan organization in Jamaica. This was facilitated by Melani Gilam, Division A Director. Melani was the lead on this project as credit towards her DTM.
Lessons Learned
So many lessons learned from the previous hybrid program! Toastmaster members supported the program, being familiar with the adults, Sonya and Tavlan, who made it work! They provided the venue and considerable IT support! It took place from July to early August – 2 meetings a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays. They completed all 8 sessions, and it was very successful.
Flexible Program Options
Programs can be run in-person or online – and as we have learned, hybrid! there are pros and cons but mainly: we want to make it work for the facilitator and the participants. We are planning fall programs right now – if you want support, let me know!
A training for facilitators is in the works, and we are hoping for a date in November. Keep your eyes peeled! If you love working with Youth, are working toward your DTM, have had a youth group approach you, or are curious how you can contribute, this is the place for YOU!
