From Praise to Performance Evaluation Laboratory

The Scientist Evaluation Laboratory proved to be an engaging and impactful experience, bringing together more than 40 enthusiastic participants eager to strengthen their evaluation skills. The energy in the room was filled with curiosity and collaboration, as attendees stepped into the role of “scientists,” carefully observing, analyzing, and articulating feedback with greater precision.

Throughout the session, participants explored five key elements of effective evaluations through the lens of the Pathways criteria:

  • Clarity,
  • Audience Awareness,
  • Interest,
  • Comfort Level, and
  • Well Supported.

Attendees were divided into small groups, with each team focusing on one of the five criteria. This structure encouraged deeper discussion, as participants shared personal examples and practical strategies tied to each focus area.

The room quickly came alive with conversation. Ideas were exchanged freely, experiences were compared, and every voice contributed to a richer understanding of effective evaluations. The energy was unmistakable, a true buzz of engagement, as participants collaborated and built on each other’s insights.

This collective participation was a key part of the laboratory’s success. By learning with and from one another, attendees strengthened their evaluation skills, were exposed to new techniques, and experienced firsthand the power of collaborative learning.

The Scientist Evaluation Laboratory demonstrated that when evaluations move beyond praise to performance-based insights, they become powerful tools for growth, helping every speaker move forward with confidence.

A huge thank you to ENERFLEX for providing the lab coats and safety goggles that helped us truly look the part. Your support added a fun, immersive element that brought the experience to life and made it even more memorable for everyone involved.

Without your generosity, we wouldn’t have quite felt like scientists stepping into the lab. We are grateful for your contribution in helping make this event such a success.
