Celebrating Service

Wayne Cameron Honoured with the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal

We are thrilled to share that Creighton (Wayne) Cameron of Moose Jaw, SK, has been awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal for 2024—a distinguished recognition of his unwavering commitment to community service and leadership.

Wayne is a true example of selfless dedication. His contributions span multiple organizations, showcasing his deep passion for volunteerism. A longtime supporter of the arts, Wayne served as a board member for RuBarb Productions, where he played a key role in securing funding and promoting local theatre in Moose Jaw. Within the Toastmasters community, he has held leadership roles, including that of Club President, and generously lent his time to judge oratorical contests, helping speakers grow and shine.

His passion for service extends beyond borders. Wayne led a backpack program for students in Costa Rica, providing essential supplies and support to children in need. His efforts have not gone unnoticed—Wayne is a previous recipient of both the Wakamow Rotary Club’s Service Above Self Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

This year, Wayne joins a distinguished group of volunteers as a Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal recipient, receiving a circular medal designed by Jack Glasser of Regina, suspended by a V-shaped clasp and a ribbon of green and gold. The medal bears the provincial coat of arms and the Latin inscription Nos ipsos dedimus—“We Gave of Ourselves.”

We congratulate Wayne Cameron for this well-deserved honour and thank him for being a shining example of leadership, compassion, and dedication.
