Do, Tell, Amplify
Building a Personal Brand That Works for You
Do, Tell, Amplify: Personal Branding for LinkedIn Impact was more than a session on profiles and posts – it was a powerful reminder that everyone already has a personal brand. The real question is whether we are intentionally shaping it.
Led by Khurram Salman, DTM, the session explored personal branding as a living promise – the story, experience, and value people associate with you, online and offline.
Khurram opened by sharing how his own Toastmasters reputation directly led to his first job interview, grounding the session in lived experience rather than theory. From there, participants explored how brands communicate through perception and consistency, using interactive exercises to recognize how colour, language, and story shape recognition and trust.
Key takeaways from the session included:
- Personal branding is a marathon, not a sprint – built through service, consistency, and growth
- Branding is about doing meaningful things and telling your story with intention
- Understanding your core strengths, differentiators, and “truth tellers” helps anchor authenticity
- A strong personal brand aligns online presence, brand assets, and offline experiences
- LinkedIn is a powerful space for professional visibility – when used with clarity, purpose, and authenticity
Participants were guided through reflective exercises such as the eulogy experiment and mission-statement framing (“I help who to do what”), encouraging deeper thought about legacy, impact, and alignment.
The session also touched on the role of AI as a support tool, not a replacement – useful for auditing and refining branding efforts, while keeping the human voice front and centre.
